Employment Pass is a residence route in Malaysia (Employment). Employer/own Sdn Bhd (paid-up capital ≥RM 500k–1m for foreign-owned) sponsors via ESD; salary tiers revised from June 2026 (Cat I ≥RM 20,000/month, Cat II ≥RM 10,000, Cat III ≥RM 5,000). Dependant passes for Cat I/II. Gov fees ~RM 3,300 for family.
Requirements at a glance
You need an annual income of about CHF 10'800. There is no minimum stay to keep the permit. Spouse and children can usually be included. Permanent residence: after 5 years.
How holders are taxed
Resident 182 days: 0–30% on MY employment income; foreign income exempt.
